Ergonomic Desk Chairs - Maintaining Good Posture For Spine Health at Your Work Station Part 2

Chairs For Desks

Here at part 2 of the series we will be sharing with you what adjustments can be made to your ergonomically designed work station in order to help you achieve your objective.

Chairs For Desks

The correct sitting posture is a right angle approach which hands and thighs are in perpendicular positions with your body seated upright. You simply slip your body onto the ergonomic desk chair with your back leaning to the back rest of the chair, seated upright, and with feet planted flat on the foot rest or the ground. Then start to type on the keyboard naturally and you are good to go. You can easily adjust the back rest forward or backward and you can also adjust the height upwards or downwards.

For more advanced work stations, some work tables or work benches could be adjusted at an angle that is suitable for the user, hence choosing the right surface height for your work desk is important. The specific height of the work surface could literally affect the way you sit and affect your posturing. And do note that if you do most of your work standing or sitting makes a great difference to your choice of height and angling. Complementing this function is the ergonomic drafting chair, which is one such chair that allows you to adjust the height according to the needs of your frequent body movements hovering over the desk. Yet if you are involved in extensive data entry, the ergonomic computer chair would suit your purpose much better.

The correct way to adjust the seat of the office chair is such that your work table is at your elbow level. Keep a distance of three to four inches from the seat edge and the calf so that you have enough leg room for easy mobility. Your knee levels should be as high as the hips and if they are not, you could raise the legs with a foot rest.

Well planned work stations should allow users to be able to sit comfortably on their ergonomic desk chairs, staring straight at the computer screens, with their phones, notepads and files within easy reach. This makes for both good work stations as well as good spine health.
